2014 is underway and offers some unique opportunities and business changes for the glass and window industry. The biggest is the worlds economy digging its way out of a recessionary period, with forecast growth in the commercial and residential building sectors in most markets, providing an opportunity for more man-hours and a lift in margins.

If the glass and window industries are able to lift margins by a small amount, even by only 5%, the flow-on effect in terms of growth in the sectors will be significant. Better forecasts and increased margins improve that all important business confidence level which drives development of the industry â€" more employment, more apprenticeships and trainees, more investment in technology, expansion of product offerings, lifting pay scales, and the like. These are the things which have been low during the recession and need to increase.

I go into 2014 with a very positive outlook for the glass and window industries and hope you do to.
